Volkswagen Recall: Rearview Camera Software Issue Affects Tiguan & Arteon

Volkswagen has issued a recall affecting 15,541 vehicles, including the 2022-2024 Tiguan SUVs and 2023 Arteon sedans, due to a defect in the rearview camera control unit. The software issue may cause the camera image to fail at startup, increasing the risk of a crash.

Why Is Volkswagen Recalling These Vehicles?

A software error prevents the rearview camera from displaying when the vehicle is put in reverse or when the parking assistance button is pressed. Although parking assistance sensors still function, a missing rearview camera image can pose a significant safety risk. Volkswagen identified this issue in late 2023 and decided to issue a recall in early February 2025.
