Ford Motor Company has issued a recall affecting over 90,000 vehicles sold across the United States, specifically targeting certain 2021-2022 models equipped with the 2.7-liter or 3.0-liter Nano EcoBoost engine. The recalled vehicles include popular models such as:

  • Ford Bronco
  • Ford Edge
  • Ford Explorer
  • Ford F-150
  • Lincoln Aviator
  • Lincoln Nautilus

Why Are These Vehicles Being Recalled?

The issue lies in the engine’s intake valve, which has a risk of breaking while the vehicle is in use. If this occurs, drivers may experience catastrophic engine failure, resulting in a sudden loss of power. Ford has stated that the check engine light will typically provide a warning before the failure, and drivers may notice rough vehicle performance prior to the issue.

While no injuries have been reported related to this recall, Ford is taking proactive measures to resolve the issue for its customers. Dealerships will conduct an engine cycle test and replace the engine if necessary—at no cost to the vehicle owners. Those who have already paid for repairs or engine replacements due to this issue may be eligible for reimbursement.

What Should You Do if Your Ford Vehicle is Affected?

If you own one of the recalled vehicles, Ford urges you to bring your vehicle to a dealership as soon as possible for inspection. For more information, you can contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332 or reach the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236.

In this article we will try to simplify the steps you will need to file a California Lemon Law Claim the proper way, although we always recommend having an experienced attorney doing it your side.

The California Lemon Law (Civ. Code, § 1793.22) protects you when your vehicle is defective and cannot be repaired after a “reasonable” number of attempts. In such instances, the manufacturer must either replace or repurchase the vehicle—whichever you prefer.

At Lemon Lawyers LA, we are committed to help consumers who have unknowingly purchased defective vehicles, which is why our practice focuses on lemon law. We understand how much people rely on their vehicles on an everyday basis, and know how an unreliable car can completely disrupt your life.

Many people purchase or lease a new or used vehicle with the expectation of a fresh start. The car has low mileage, no wear and tear, and comes with a warranty. However, some of these consumers quickly become frustrated when a problem arises that requires them to repeatedly bring the vehicle in for repairs. Their frustration only continues to grow when the problem still exists after multiple repair attempts. If you’re in this situation, it’s important to file a lemon law claim to obtain a refund or replacement vehicle.

Bring Your Lemon In For Repairs As Soon As Possible

This is number #1 factor to consider when filing a California Lemon Law Claim. If a problem arises with your vehicle, bring it to the dealership or manufacturer for repairs as soon as possible. Too many people put off fixing their vehicles. However, a car manufacturer is not required to fix a problem it does not even know about. To exercise your rights under the Lemon Law, the manufacturer must have an opportunity to fix the problem first.

Inform the staff about all of your concerns when you bring the vehicle in, and make sure they document each and every complaint. Always keep and maintain the records related to the attempted repairs, which can include repair orders and receipts. All this will help make your California Lemon Law Claim process goes much more smooth. Dealerships may misplace records or even go out of business, leaving you without access to records that you need to prove your claim.

Gather the Documents You Need to Prove Your Lemon Law Claim

Next, start gathering the documents that you need to prove your claim. Here are the documents you will need to collect:

  1. Proof of your vehicle purchase or your leasing contract
  2. Information regarding the warranty you received
  3. All repair orders, repair bills, and receipts for any work on your vehicle
  4. Notes regarding any additional conversations you had with a dealer or manufacturer, as well as emails or other correspondence.

Every case is unique, so it’s best to speak to an attorney about what kind of documentation you will need.

At this point, it’s recommended that you contact an attorney for assistance. You can access the paperwork that you need to submit online, but this does not mean you should file a claim on your own. Many people try to simply fill out the application and pursue a claim on their own, but they soon run into problems or become overwhelmed when the dealer or manufacturer tries to take advantage of them. Don’t try to tackle the consuming and time-confusing process of filing a claim on your own. Discuss your claim with an attorney who is thoroughly familiar with this process.

In California, consumers who attempt do their lemon law stuff themselves are frequently confronted with a bully manufacturer. Some of those manufacturers will manipulate them into yet another repair only to have the vehicle fall apart again, or convince them to accept a low cash deal only to be left with no resources when the vehicle breaks down again, or even they might try to make them to accept a nominal cash deal when they could have gotten a full refund.

A lemon law attorney can assist you in defending your rights against manufacturers that do not follow the lemon law. A California lemon law attorney can also assist you in obtaining the proper reimbursement and defining the manufacturer’s responsibilities on your behalf. Lemon law attorneys recognize that a lemon can cost you and your family a great deal of aggravation and annoyance, or even leave you stranded on the side of the road. Using their skills, they work with the manufacturer’s attorney to obtain you the best bargain possible.

So you do not leave any money on the table-get a better deal.

Their lawyers are experts in handling claims and will have you spinning on their heels without proper representation. If you have an expert California lemon law lawyer backing you up, you will be better positioned to handle your claim. A lemon law attorney will make sure you get the best deal. These lemon law attorneys help consumers in leveling the playing field when they are up against large corporations. Since a lemon law lawyer knows the laws pertaining to the subject and deals with numerous cases, they are best suited to represent you. They gather tid-bits of the play with their experience and use them to get you on the good plain. If you don’t have equally strong representation, you might end up losing the case or a significant amount of money. A California lemon law lawyer will be able to guide you better as they understand the changing laws.

Manufacturers pay your attorney fees and costs

California’s lemon law has a fee-shifting provision that says if you prevail in a lemon law case, the manufacturer has to pay your attorney’s fees and costs. This means that you will not have to pay any legal fees or any additional costs to get a resolve your matter with a manufacturer. This makes it extremely convenient for consumers to approach lawyers and fight for their rights.

They do all the work for you and take all the stress off of you

With a lemon at hand, it can get too challenging to go about a lawsuit all by yourself. If you have an experienced lemon law attorney helping you, it will get easier for you to manage things in all aspects. You will be covered financially as the lawyer fee will be paid for by the manufacturer if you prevail. You will be able to get better deal. A California lemon law lawyer will make sure you are aware of all your rights and take you down the right path. With limited knowledge of the laws and no experience, it will get tough for you to find the right way of doing things. On the other hand, your legal counsel will guide you through various situations and provide valuable insights to help you win the case. All you will need to do is provide your lawyer with all the necessary data, and they will process the information to devise a solution that benefits you the most and go about the route which is best suited to get you at your desired spot.

You will be better prepared for the opposition.

Since the manufacturers deal with lemons regularly, they have a team of specialized lawyers aiding them. They are best equipped to face the consumers, and devise ways to ensure their manufacturing clients pay as little as possible. Now, if you desire to win your claim and have your finances covered, your best bet would be to hire a lemon law lawyer. An experienced lemon law attorney will have the relevant experience and knowledge to help you win the case. They will not only help you build a stronger case but also help you navigate the situation better. Since they are aware of the intricate aspects of the state’s laws, they are best suited to face the manufacturer’s team.

BMW has recently issued a major recall affecting over 720,000 vehicles. This recall is due to a critical issue with the water pump’s electrical connector, which could potentially lead to a fire. This is the latest in a series of recalls by BMW, highlighting the importance of addressing vehicle safety concerns promptly.

Details of the Recall

The recall stems from a defect in the water pump’s electrical connector in certain BMW models. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue arises from insufficient sealing on the water pumps. This could allow fluid ingress at the electrical plug connector over time, potentially causing a short circuit and, in rare cases, leading to a fire in the engine compartment.

BMW has identified that the defect could occur due to blow-by fluid accumulating from the positive crankcase ventilation system. When this fluid seeps into the water pump’s electrical system, it can cause the connector to short-circuit, significantly increasing the risk of an engine fire.

So far, BMW has recorded 18 incidents related to this defect globally, including occurrences in South Korea and the United States. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. However, BMW is taking proactive measures to ensure customer safety by recalling the affected vehicles and providing necessary repairs free of charge.

Affected Models

The recall affects a wide range of BMW models, specifically those equipped with the N20 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The following models are included in this recall:

  • 2012-2015: X1 / X1 xDrive
  • 2012-2016: Z4 sDrive28i
  • 2012-2016: 528i / 528i xDrive
  • 2012-2016: 328i / 328i xDrive
  • 2016-2018: X5 xDrive 40e
  • 2014-2016: 228i / 228i xDrive
  • 2014-2016: 428i / 428i xDrive
  • 2014-2016: 328xi Gran Turismo
  • 2013-2017: X3 / X3 xDrive
  • 2015-2018: X4 xDrive28i
  • 2015-2016: 428xi

BMW dealerships will inspect the affected vehicles and replace the water pump and plug connector if necessary. Additionally, a shield will be installed to prevent fluid from dripping onto the pump from the positive crankcase ventilation system’s intake air house. All repairs will be performed free of charge.

What Should BMW Owners Do?

If you own a BMW model affected by this recall, it’s essential to act quickly. BMW will begin notifying owners via mail starting in October 2024. However, if you suspect your vehicle might be affected or you have not received a notification, it is advisable to contact your local BMW dealer as soon as possible.

At Lemon Lawyers LA, we understand the stress and inconvenience of dealing with a recalled vehicle, especially when safety is at risk. If you own an affected BMW and are experiencing repeated issues, you may have a case under California’s Lemon Law. Our team of experienced lemon law attorneys is here to help you every step of the way.

We offer free consultations and are available seven days a week to discuss your situation. Don’t let vehicle defects disrupt your life. Call Lemon Lawyers LA at  (866) 486-9227 today or fill out this form, and we will reach out to you promptly.

Ford has long been synonymous with durability, famously declaring its vehicles as “Built Ford Tough.” However, recent legal challenges surrounding their 10-speed transmission systems are testing that reputation. Over the past few years, several Ford models equipped with the 10R80 transmission have been at the center of numerous complaints, recalls, and legal actions, sparking class-action lawsuits and raising serious safety concerns.

The 2024 Ford 10-Speed Transmission Lawsuit Overview

In April 2023, a significant class-action lawsuit was filed, alleging that the 10R80 10-speed transmissions installed in various Ford models suffer from severe defects. Drivers have reported issues such as jerking, harsh shifting, lunging, clunking, hesitation, and even sudden loss of power. These problems not only affect the driving experience but also pose potentially life-threatening risks to drivers and passengers.

According to the lawsuit, Ford allegedly concealed these defects from the public, leading to significant damages and increasing the risk of accidents. The lawsuit further claims that the affected vehicles could suffer serious damage or even catch fire in the event of a collision, heightening the danger to both vehicle occupants and others on the road.

Affected Models and Potential Compensation

The following models equipped with the 10R80 transmission have been identified as part of the ongoing lawsuit:

  • 2018-present Ford Expedition
  • 2018-present Ford Mustang
  • 2019-present Ford Ranger
  • 2017-present Ford F-150
  • 2018-present Lincoln Navigator

If you own or lease one of these vehicles and have experienced transmission issues, you may be entitled to compensation. Settlement amounts can vary, with some cases resulting in substantial payouts up to $160,000.

Is Ford Addressing the Transmission Issues?

Ford has acknowledged the problems with their 10-speed transmissions and has issued several recalls and Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) in an attempt to address them. However, many drivers have reported that these measures have not fully resolved the issues. The problems often persist even after multiple repair attempts, leaving vehicle owners frustrated and concerned for their safety.

Despite these ongoing issues, Ford has not issued a comprehensive recall for all affected vehicles. Instead, the company has focused on piecemeal solutions, such as updating software and replacing specific components. Unfortunately, these fixes have not been universally successful, and many drivers continue to experience problems with their vehicles.

What Should You Do if You’re Experiencing Transmission Problems?

If you’re dealing with persistent transmission issues in your Ford vehicle, it’s crucial to take action. You may have the option to file a lemon law claim, which could entitle you to a refund, cash compensation, and the payment of your attorney’s fees. Unlike class-action lawsuits, which address the concerns of a collective group, an individual lemon law claim allows you to seek personalized legal remedies based on the specific problems you’ve encountered.

The 10-speed transmission issues have been a recurring problem for Ford owners, and while the company has made attempts to address them, the solutions have been far from comprehensive. If you’re tired of dealing with transmission troubles and want to explore your legal options, contacting a lemon law expert could be the best step forward.

Ford Motor Company has issued a recall for more than 70,000 vehicles, including the 2024 Ford Ranger and Lincoln Nautilus, due to a serious safety concern with the power windows. The recall addresses a defect in the window systems that may result in the windows failing to reverse when they detect an object, posing a significant risk of injury, such as pinched fingers.

Recall Details

The recall impacts a total of 70,483 vehicles, specifically the 2024 Ford Ranger trucks and Lincoln Nautilus SUVs. The issue lies in the software logic of the driver and passenger door modules, which can cause the power windows to exert excessive force if an object or extremity obstructs their path. This defect violates federal motor vehicle safety standards and poses a risk of injury.

The problem is most likely to occur if the window movement was previously in the “up” direction, followed by the vehicle entering a key off/sleep cycle of more than 12 minutes. After such a cycle, the software may reset the window’s relative glass position, disabling the automatic reversal system. Ford’s engineers identified this issue during testing, prompting a thorough investigation by the company’s Critical Concern Review Group.

Ford’s Response and Solution

To address this issue, Ford and Lincoln dealers will update the driver and passenger door module software to correct the faulty logic. The fix will ensure that the windows no longer pose a risk of pinching or causing injury by meeting the required safety standards. Ford will begin notifying affected vehicle owners starting September 23, 2024.

The update will be provided at no cost to vehicle owners. Those who suspect their vehicle may be affected can check their 17-character VIN through Ford’s recall database or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) lookup tool.

Production Dates and Affected Models

The affected vehicles were produced during the following periods:

  • 2024 Ford Ranger: December 9, 2022, to July 15, 2024
  • 2024 Lincoln Nautilus: September 26, 2022, to August 5, 2024

No injuries related to this defect have been reported so far, but Ford is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of its customers. The recall highlights the importance of addressing even seemingly minor safety concerns to prevent potential injuries.

BMW has announced a significant recall affecting over 105,000 vehicles due to a potential risk of overheating and fires originating from the starter motor. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that certain models from the 2019 to 2021 production years are at risk of a starter overheating, which could ignite combustible materials in the engine compartment.

Details of the Recall

According to the NHTSA, the issue stems from the starter motor in the affected vehicles, which can overheat if a failed start attempt is repeatedly made. This overheating has the potential to ignite flammable materials within the engine compartment, posing a serious fire hazard. The problem is particularly concerning because it can occur without warning, potentially leading to dangerous situations for drivers and passengers.

Affected BMW Models

The recall includes a range of BMW’s top-selling models across different vehicle types. The specific models affected by this recall are:

  • 2019-2020 BMW X5 SUVs
  • 2019-2020 BMW X7 SUVs
  • 2020 BMW 3 Series Sedans
  • 2020 BMW X6 Sedans
  • 2020-2021 BMW 7 Series Sedans
  • 2020 BMW 8 Series Convertibles
  • 2020 BMW 8 Series Coupes
  • 2020 BMW 8 Series Gran Coupes

BMW has identified nearly 105,600 vehicles that may be affected by this issue, underscoring the importance of addressing this recall promptly to ensure the safety of all drivers.

What BMW Owners Should Do Next

BMW owners of the affected models should expect to receive official notification letters beginning after September 23, 2024. These letters will provide detailed instructions on how to proceed with the recall. BMW dealerships will install a software update to fix the overheating issue free of charge.

In the meantime, owners can contact BMW’s customer service directly at 800-525-7417 to inquire about the recall or to schedule an appointment for the necessary repairs.

Toyota Motor North America has issued an important recall impacting more than 100,000 vehicles, including Toyota Tundra trucks and Lexus LX SUVs from the 2022 and 2023 model years. This recall addresses a critical safety concern involving engine defects caused by leftover manufacturing debris.

Recall Details

The recall involves 102,092 vehicles, including 98,568 Toyota Tundra pickups and 3,524 Lexus LX600 SUVs. During production, machining debris was left in the turbocharged V-6 engines, which can lead to severe engine malfunctions. These issues include engine knocking, rough operation, failure to start, and even complete engine failure. The risk of losing engine power, particularly at high speeds, makes this recall a significant safety concern, as it heightens the chance of accidents.

Toyota’s Plan and Customer Support

In response to the problem, Toyota is taking decisive action by replacing the engines in all affected vehicles free of charge. On July 25, Toyota confirmed that engine replacement is the most effective solution. The engine replacement process will take approximately 13 to 21 hours, and during this time, customers will be provided with loaner or rental vehicles to minimize inconvenience. It’s important to note that this issue only affects gas-powered models, so hybrid versions of the Tundra and LX600 are not impacted.

What Affected Owners Should Know

Toyota and Lexus dealers began notifying affected vehicle owners in July 2024. If you haven’t yet received notification, you can check if your vehicle is part of the recall by visiting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) website or using Toyota’s recall tool. The recall comes amid several other challenges for Toyota, including recent recalls involving the Toyota Grand Highlander and Lexus TX due to airbag issues.

As of May 2024, Toyota had received 824 engine warranty claims related to this issue. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries linked to the problem. Toyota’s swift action to replace engines aims to restore customer confidence and ensure the safety of their vehicles on the road.

BMW has issued a significant recall impacting more than 291,000 vehicles across the United States due to serious safety concerns related to the rear cargo rails.

Details of the Recall

The recall focuses on several BMW X3 models, including the 2018-2023 X3 sDrive30i, X3 xDrive30i, X3 M40i, and X3 M. The issue stems from faulty bolts that could be compromised during a severe rear-end collision, potentially causing the rear cargo rail to detach and posing an increased risk of injury to occupants.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the problematic bolts were identified in BMW X3 vehicles produced between March 2017 and September 2022. The defect was first discovered in August 2022 after a serious rear collision involving a 2022 BMW X3 revealed the potential danger. Subsequent testing and inspections by BMW confirmed the risk associated with these bolts and the rear cargo rails.

What Should BMW Owners Do?

BMW has pledged to resolve the issue by replacing the defective bolts free of charge. Affected vehicle owners will be notified via mail starting August 30, 2024, but dealerships have already been briefed on the recall procedures. BMW owners are encouraged to contact their local dealerships to schedule this essential repair at no cost.

If you’ve already paid out-of-pocket for repairs related to this issue, BMW is offering reimbursement upon submission of appropriate documentation. The recall number assigned by the NHTSA for this issue is 24V-534. For further information or assistance, vehicle owners can contact BMW’s customer service at 1-800-525-7417 or reach out to the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.

This recall is BMW’s third major recall in 2024 alone. Earlier this year, BMW recalled nearly 80,000 vehicles due to a potential brake malfunction and another 394,000 vehicles in July over concerns about airbag explosions.

BMW is taking proactive steps to ensure customer safety by addressing these rear crash safety risks. If you own one of the affected BMW X3 models, it’s crucial to check if your vehicle is part of this recall. You can do so by visiting the NHTSA website or using BMW’s recall tool.

Volkswagen has issued a recall affecting more than 307,000 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport SUVs in the U.S. and Canada due to a potential airbag defect. The recall targets the Passenger Occupant Detection System (PODS), which may cause the front passenger airbags to deactivate even when the seat is occupied, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

Details of the Volkswagen Atlas Recall

This recall impacts approximately 271,000 Atlas (2021-2024) and Atlas Cross Sport (2020-2024) SUVs in the U.S. Additionally, 36,000 units in Canada are affected. The issue stems from the PODS wiring, which may malfunction and deactivate the front passenger airbag. When this happens, an error message will appear on the instrument panel, and the airbag warning light will display “passenger airbag off.” An audible warning may also sound.

The recall follows a previous action in March 2023, which affected 143,000 Atlas (2018-2021) and Atlas Cross Sport (2020) models. Volkswagen decided to issue this larger recall after receiving 1,730 warranty claims related to the passenger detection system.

What Volkswagen Owners Should Do

Volkswagen will begin notifying owners by August 16, 2024. Owners will be asked to take their vehicles to a dealership, where the occupant detection sensor and seat wiring harness will be replaced at no cost. Until the recall is resolved, Volkswagen advises owners not to allow anyone to ride in the front passenger seat if the PODS error message or airbag warning light is displayed.

Owners with questions can contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298, or reach out to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at 1-888-327-4236. Additionally, owners can check their vehicle identification number (VIN) on the NHTSA website to determine if their vehicle is affected.
